Magsaysay Lines

MC Shipping, in partnership with Magsaysay Maritime Corporation (MMC), conducted the Loss Prevention and Marine Insurance Seminar 2019 last March 19 at The Ballroom II of New World Manila Bay Hotel, Manila, Philippines.

Guests from Japan P&I Club, Britannia P&I Club, and Tokio Marine and Nichido Fire Insurance Co. Ltd. were invited to discuss topics on proper ship handling during rough weather, risk assessment and safety culture, psychological safety and communication onboard, loss prevention and marine insurance, including case studies related to vessel operations. The event aims to develop the skills and competencies among participants and apply these learnings while working onboard. The seminar brought together eighty (80) Filipino officers and crew members from MMC and other manning agencies.

In the evening, MC Shipping honored its Filipino officers and crew members during the 16th Recognition and Awards ceremony. Started in 2004, the awarding ceremony is an appreciation of Filipino seafarers and families for their contribution to the company. The awardees were selected based on a set of criteria that relate to their performance, achievements and long sea service onboard MC Shipping vessels. The awards were presented by MC Shipping’s Satoshi Matsuura, President; Capt. Makoto Maeda, Director; Shingo Ogawa, Branch Manager; Magsaysay’s Doris Ho, President and CEO; and Marlon Roño, Executive Chairman of MMC.

In his message, MC Shipping President Satoshi Matsuura said that the event was also a celebration of 25 years of partnership, good memories and friendship between MC Shipping and Magsaysay. MC Shipping expressed its gratitude to Magsaysay, partners, and seafarers in achieving the company’s goal–ensuring safe, efficient and economic vessel operations.
