'There is nowhere better.'

I felt incredibly lucky to begin my legal career at Allens. I began as a clerk and continued as a paralegal during my final year at university. Now, I’m a lawyer in the Graduate Program, completing my first 12-month rotation.

Allens is an immensely fulfilling firm to work for. Each day I find myself involved in stimulating matters and learning from lawyers at the top of the profession. Their willingness to pass on in-depth technical knowledge affirms that I'm in the right place to gain the best skills, experiences and values. It's also a collaborative environment, and I’m rewarded for taking initiative and making the most of the many learning opportunities.

A core reason why Allens was my first preference is the firm's history. Within the profession, Allens has boldly and consistently shown leadership. One example is the firm's longstanding commitment to diversity and inclusion, which was a major drawcard for me.

I’ve been involved with 'ALLin', Allens' LGBTI network, since my clerkship. This initiative coordinates the firm's pro bono support for LGBTI people. It has led to our involvement in several High Court challenges and our decision to be the first Australian law firm to publicly support amending the Marriage Act. The events ALLin organises for clients and staff are also good fun, and a great way to connect with likeminded colleagues and raise awareness of the valuable work ALLin does. It’s exciting to contribute to Allens' tradition of LGBTI inclusion and ensure the firm is always a place where people can bring their whole selves to work.
